Darfield Longbow JFC was established in 1991 to satisfy the needs of local children passionate about football. With the support of the Longbow Pub the Club came into being and some of the founder members were Steve Haleward, Jason Waller and Dave Hancock (now Academy Director at Barnsley FC)
Initially the Club had two teams in the U10 and U12 age groups playing in the Barnsley Friendly League, as the Club developed age groups from U7 to U16 were added and by 1996 the Club were playing in the Sheffield and District Junior Sunday League. At about this time Dave Hancock left the Club to pursue his career with Barnsley FC.
In 2004 the Club changed its name to Darfield JFC and was one of the first in the SDJSL to achieve FA Charter standard, something the Club are rightly proud of.
At the end of the 2006/2007 season Steve and Jason retired from the Club having devoted many years to developing Darfield JFC and guiding it to a high standard of achievement, it was with much gratitude that the Club said farewell to them both.
As for the future we are embarking on the FA Charter Standard Development route so that we can progress the Club for the Players, Coaches and supporters of Darfield JFC.
